Singalong in the van

There was a wonderful rendition of Drift Away by Dobie Gray (Gimme the beat, boys, and free my soul...) going on in the van today on the way to school. There was a nice melody line with me and the 8-year-old going along fairly strong. The 5-year-old would chime in every now and then, but most of the words were beyond her.

Until....

Toward the very end of that song, when the background is going "Gimme the beat, boys, ....) and doing the refrain line over and over, the lead singer comes in and ad libs. The little girl reared back and came in at just the right time with a boistrous "FREE MY SOUL!!"

Fun stuff. Classic song, well done.
